Why does Replica3D say LiDAR is required?

Replica3D checks the device at runtime for ARKit scene reconstruction. It does not rely only on a marketing model list. Use a supported LiDAR-equipped iPhone with a compatible iOS version, grant camera permission, and restart the app after changing permission. Devices without the required sensor capability cannot start a scan.

How do I get a better scan?

  1. Place a stationary, opaque, matte object in even light with room to walk around it.
  2. Keep the object in the suggested distance range and move slowly.
  3. Follow the live color and coverage guidance, especially around the top, bottom edges, recesses, and thin details.
  4. Take overlapping passes from strong angles instead of one fast orbit.
  5. Avoid transparent, mirror-like, very dark, moving, soft, or nearly featureless surfaces when possible.

Replica3D combines stronger repeated observations, but it cannot recover a surface the sensors never captured reliably.

Auto repair or Fine Controls?

Start with Auto for bounded cleanup, hole closing, a suggested flat base, and detail-preserving processing. Open Fine Controls to adjust the maximum hole size, cleanup strength, smoothing/detail retention, base-plane position and angle, or optional shell thickness and drain behavior. The recipe is non-destructive: reopen it later, compare the original and repaired mesh, change a setting, and regenerate without rescanning.

For most FDM prints, slicer wall and infill settings are preferable to a sealed hollow cavity. Use on-phone hollowing only when its wall and drain checks fit the intended process.

What should I check before export?

Review the displayed millimeter dimensions, before/after repair changes, watertightness, manifold and self-intersection warnings, thin areas, base area, and any unresolved scan regions. Then inspect the model again in your slicer. Replica3D’s checks do not certify a part’s safety, tolerance, strength, or fitness for a purpose.

3MF or STL?

Prefer 3MF because it records units and is designed for manufacturing workflows. STL is provided for compatibility and is exported with an explicit millimeter scale, even though the STL format itself does not store units. Import the file into Bambu Studio or another compatible slicer to choose orientation, supports, walls, infill, material, and printer settings. Replica3D does not generate G-code or send a job directly to a printer.

Restore an export subscription

Use Restore Purchases from the export screen when an active monthly or annual App Store subscription is not recognized. Confirm the device uses the Apple ID that subscribed. Apple handles payment, renewal, cancellation, and refund requests; localized prices and terms appear in Apple’s purchase sheet. Manage or cancel the subscription in your Apple ID subscription settings.

Where are my scans and models?

They are on your phone. Replica3D does not upload or back up projects to a Kenersoft service. Delete a project inside the app, or remove the app and its data through iOS. A copy you exported or shared must be deleted from its destination separately. Your Apple device-backup settings can independently include application data.

Turn diagnostics on or off

Open Privacy & diagnostics and change Share diagnostics. The app works fully with it off. When enabled, only crash and coarse performance information is sent to Firebase; scans, models, dimensions, filenames, purchase details, and personal identifiers supplied by Replica3D are excluded. Read the complete Privacy Policy for Firebase’s automatic technical metadata and retention periods.
